The sixth EPALE network regional conference, traditionally held every year in cooperation with EPALE national support teams from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Croatia, Slovenia and Serbia, was held on 24 – 25 May 2022 in Tuhelj thermal baths in Croatia. As of this year, the EPALE state support team of Northern Macedonia has joined the regional cooperation. This year, experts in the field of adult education from six surrounding countries had the opportunity to exchange good practices on: “The role of adult education in successful social integration and meeting challenges.”
The host country of this year’s EPALE Regional Conference was Croatia. After the Director of the Agency for Vocational and Adult Education, Mr. Mile Živčić, officially opened the conference on May 25, held was the second part of the plenary presentations of the VI Regional EPALE Conference. Representatives of the national teams and prominent experts from the region presented, through plenary presentations, the examples of good practice and challenges they face in working with vulnerable groups.
Panel speaker from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ms. Azra Šulić, Assistant Minister in the Sector for Preschool and Primary Education and Inclusion in the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of Una-Sana Canton spoke on the topic: “Transformative potentials and opportunities to change society practices – new challenges and prospects. She also addressed various challenges and examples of good practice in the field of education of migrants in Bosnia and Herzegovina accentuating new models of teaching immanent to new circumstances and educational environments. Also, on the second day of the conference, parallel workshops based on the World Cafe principle were held on the topic of adult education and employment with an emphasis on vulnerable groups. Good regional EPALE cooperation continues while the host of the next Regional Conference is Bosnia and Herzegovina.
