The regional EPALE NSSs Round Table was held on March 14 and 15, 2024 in Belgrade. The EPALE NSS team Serbia hosted this year’s annual meeting, attended by representatives of EPALE NSSs from Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, and North Macedonia. On behalf of the Agency for Pre-primary, Primary and Secondary Education and the EPALE NSS Bosnia and Herzegovina the meeting was attended by Slavko Karan and Daria Mršić. The discussion included topics related to future cooperative activities and a presentation on the results of previous regional collaboration.
Following the evaluation of regional collaboration on the development of the Media Literacy Competence Framework and discussions about the sustainability of the initiatives achieved in each of the participating countries, it was concluded that the Media Literacy Competence Framework has established standards which acknowledge the characteristics of each country, allowing each country to develop programmes and manuals based on this competence framework.
During the Round table, agreements were reached regarding the upcoming, 8th Regional EPALE conference, which will be hosted this year by the EPALE NSS Montenegro. The conference is scheduled for November 27 and 28 in Budva. The Conference program is based on the theme and achievements of regional cooperation in the previous three years, which was initiated by the EPALE NSS Montenegro, and will include inspiring lectures and panels that will discuss media literacy as a function of life, including critical reviews of challenges and development of media literacy competences in the Balkan region’s countries.
Similar to previous meetings, the Round Table anticipated the proposals for future collaboration, projects, and activities for the period 2025-2026.
