On September 07, 2022 the team of the Agency for Pre-Primary, Primary and Secondary Education for conducting international surveys in BiH held the first meeting with the coordinators for international surveys from the ministries of education and the Department of Education of the Brčko District of BiH.

Namely, at the session of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, held on March 31, 2022, a decision was made to approve the conclusion of an agreement on the participation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in TIMSS 2023, Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study, for students of the 4th grade of primary education and the participation of Bosnia and Herzegovina in ICILS 2023, the International Survey of Computer and Information Literacy, for students of the 8th grade of primary education. Both surveys are conducted by the IEA, the International Association for the Evaluation of Student Achievements, while the Agency, in close cooperation with the IEA, has the authority to conduct these surveys in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

To this end, organized was the online meeting with the appointed coordinators and deputy coordinators from the competent ministries of education in Bosnia and Herzegovina. The participants were welcomed by Ms. Alisa Ibraković, Agency deputy director while present were also Ms. Žaneta Džumhur, the coordinator for international surveys TIMSS 2023 and ICILS 2023 in BiH, Ms. Branka Popić, deputy coordinator for TIMSS 2023 in BiH and Ms. Nataša Kokoruš, deputy coordinator for ICILS 2023 in BiH.

The aim of the meeting was to present the basic information related to TIMSS 2023 and ICILS 2023 surveys and to agree the obligations and mode of cooperation between the appointed coordinators and the Agency in order to ensure high standards in conducting the surveys. For the purpose of conducting these surveys successfully in BiH, the continuous cooperation of the Agency with the competent ministries of education and the Department of Education of Brčko District of BiH is essential.
