The pandemic caused by the COVID-19 virus has had a strong impact on the field of adult education while the changes, as in other fields of education, occurred very quickly. Everyone involved in the adult education process had to show great endurance and creativity in adapting to the new situation.

To support all those involved in adult education during the pandemic, an EPALE resource set was created and published on the platform. This adult education support kit provides an overview of interesting content and offers tools for use in teaching and learning.

Another form of support for the community of adult educators during the pandemic, and at the same time the largest and most important event in the field of adult education in Europe that marked the previous year, is certainly the EPALE Community Conference 2020: Shaping the future of adult education in Europe. This event is traditionally held every year in one of the European capitals, but this time it was held in an online format and presented through the EPALE platform and some other online channels. The EPALE community conference is intended for all stakeholders in the adult education sector from the European continent and beyond, and last year’s three-day conference was attended by more than 3,800 visitors. After the conference, a set of resources was published in which the content from the conference was presented.

This year’s EPALE Community 2021 Online Conference is announced for the period 12 to 14 October 2021, and all participants will have the opportunity to hear eminent speakers, experts in the field of adult education and creators of education, both at European and national level.

During 2020, the members enriched the EPALE platform with numerous quality and inspiring content. The EPALE project initiative ‘Stories from the EPALE Community 2020’ has attracted the attention of many registered users. They came together to meet the challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic and support colleagues with their shared stories and improve value and innovation in adult education. Among them are four inspirational stories from Bosnia and Herzegovina. This campaign was successfully completed in late 2020, and today you can read a total of 114 stories combined in the EPALE Community Storybook 2020 edition.
